Prayer times by region in Afghanistan

Our pages in Afghanistan are organised in 34 regions. Choose your region, then your city: every page has its own coordinates, which is why the times change by a few minutes between cities, east to west and from north to south.

How prayer times are calculated in Afghanistan

Times for Afghanistan use the University of Islamic Sciences, Karachi method: Fajr when the sun is 18° below the horizon and Isha when the sun is 18° below the horizon. Times are shown in local time (UTC+4:30). In the capital Kabul, Fajr is about 2:55 AM and Maghrib 7:09 PM around 21 June, whereas around 21 December Fajr comes at 5:26 AM and Maghrib at 4:46 PM. Daylight there ranges from 9 h 51 min to 14 h 28 min.

Our cities in Afghanistan stretch from Eslam Qaleh in the west to Asmar in the east, and from Qarqin in the north to Khanashin in the south. With such a distance, the sun reaches its zenith in Asmar about 41 minutes before Eslam Qaleh, even though the clock is the same everywhere. Day length also differs between north and south, especially in summer and winter, so the timetable of Kabul cannot replace that of your own city.
