Prayer times by region in India

Our pages in India are organised in 36 regions. Open your region, then your city: every page has its own coordinates, which is why the times change by a few minutes from one place to the next, from east to west and from north to south.

How prayer times are calculated in India

Times for India use the University of Islamic Sciences, Karachi method: Fajr when the sun is 18° below the horizon and Isha when the sun is 18° below the horizon. Times are shown in local time (UTC+5:30). In the capital New Delhi, Fajr is around 3:49 AM and Maghrib 7:22 PM around 21 June, whereas around 21 December Fajr comes at 5:45 AM and Maghrib at 5:29 PM. Daylight there ranges from 10 h 19 min to 13 h 58 min.

Our cities in India stretch from Dwārka in the west to Tezu in the east, and from Kargil in the north to Kanniyākumāri in the south. With such a distance, the sun reaches its zenith in Tezu about 109 minutes before Dwārka, even though the clock is the same everywhere. Day length also varies between north and south, most of all in summer and winter, so the timetable of New Delhi cannot replace that of your own city.
