How prayer times are calculated in Germany
Times for Germany use the Muslim World League method: Fajr when the sun is 18° below the horizon and Isha when the sun is 17° below the horizon. Times are shown in local time (UTC+1, UTC+2 in summer). In the capital Berlin, Fajr is about 2:34 AM and Maghrib 9:33 PM around 21 June, whereas around 21 December Fajr comes at 6:07 AM and Maghrib at 3:54 PM. Daylight there ranges from 7 h 39 min to 16 h 50 min.
Our cities in Germany stretch from Aachen in the west to Görlitz in the east, and from Flensburg in the north to Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the south. Because of this spread, the sun reaches its zenith in Görlitz about 36 minutes before Aachen, even though the clock is the same everywhere. Day length also varies between north and south, most of all in summer and winter, so the timetable of Berlin is no substitute for that of your own city.
