How prayer times are calculated in China
Pages for China use the Muslim World League method: Fajr when the sun is 18° below the horizon and Isha when the sun is 17° below the horizon. Times are shown in the local time of each city (UTC+8; UTC+6). In the capital Beijing, Fajr is around 2:43 AM and Maghrib 7:46 PM around 21 June, while around 21 December Fajr comes at 5:54 AM and Maghrib at 4:52 PM. Daylight there ranges from 9 h 20 min to 15 h.
Our cities in China stretch from Kashgar in the west to Fuyuan in the east, and from Xilinji in the north to Sanya in the south. Because of this spread, the sun reaches its zenith in Fuyuan about 233 minutes before Kashgar, which is one reason the country uses several time zones. Day length also varies between north and south, especially in summer and winter, so the timetable of Beijing is no substitute for that of your own city.
