How prayer times are calculated in the Bahamas
Times for Bahamas use the Muslim World League method: Fajr when the sun is 18° below the horizon and Isha when the sun is 17° below the horizon. Times are shown in local time (UTC−5, UTC−4 in summer). In the capital Nassau, Fajr is about 4:51 AM and Maghrib 8:02 PM around 21 June, whereas around 21 December Fajr comes at 5:28 AM and Maghrib at 5:25 PM. Daylight there ranges from 10 h 35 min to 13 h 42 min.
Our cities in the Bahamas stretch from Alice Town in the west to Abraham's Bay in the east, and from Grand Cay in the north to Matthew Town in the south. With such a distance, the sun reaches its zenith in Abraham's Bay about 25 minutes before Alice Town, even though the clock is the same everywhere. Day length also differs between north and south, especially in summer and winter, so the timetable of Nassau is no substitute for that of your own city.
