How prayer times are calculated in Belize

Times for Belize use the Muslim World League method: Fajr when the sun is 18° below the horizon and Isha when the sun is 17° below the horizon. Times are shown in local time (UTC−6). In the capital Belmopan, Fajr is around 4:00 AM and Maghrib 6:32 PM around 21 June, whereas around 21 December Fajr comes at 5:03 AM and Maghrib at 5:26 PM. Daylight there ranges from 11 h 06 min to 13 h 10 min.

Our cities in Belize stretch from San Ignacio in the west to San Pedro Town in the east, and from Corozal in the north to Punta Gorda in the south. With such a distance, the sun reaches its zenith in San Pedro Town about 4 minutes before San Ignacio, even though the clock is the same everywhere. Day length also differs between north and south, especially in summer and winter, so the timetable of Belmopan is no substitute for that of your own city.
