How prayer times are calculated in Bulgaria
Times for Bulgaria use the Muslim World League method: Fajr when the sun is 18° below the horizon and Isha when the sun is 17° below the horizon. Times are shown in local time (UTC+2, UTC+3 in summer). In the capital Sofia, Fajr is about 3:32 AM and Maghrib 9:08 PM around 21 June, whereas around 21 December Fajr comes at 6:11 AM and Maghrib at 4:56 PM. Daylight there ranges from 9 h 02 min to 15 h 20 min.
Our cities in Bulgaria stretch from Kyustendil in the west to Varna in the east, and from Silistra in the north to Petrich in the south. Because of this spread, the sun reaches its zenith in Varna about 21 minutes before Kyustendil, even though the clock is the same everywhere. Day length also differs between north and south, especially in summer and winter, so the timetable of Sofia cannot replace that of your own city.
