How prayer times are calculated in Chile
Times for Chile use the Muslim World League method: Fajr when the sun is 18° below the horizon and Isha when the sun is 17° below the horizon. Times are shown in the local time of each city (UTC−4, UTC−3 in summer; UTC−3). In the capital Santiago, Fajr is around 4:46 AM and Maghrib 8:52 PM around 21 December, while around 21 June Fajr comes at 6:17 AM and Maghrib at 5:42 PM. Daylight there ranges from 9 h 56 min to 14 h 23 min.
Our cities in Chile stretch from Ancud in the west to Calama in the east, and from Arica in the north to Punta Arenas in the south. With such a distance, the sun reaches its zenith in Calama about 20 minutes before Ancud, which is one reason the country uses several time zones. Day length also differs between north and south, especially in summer and winter, so the timetable of Santiago cannot replace that of your own city.
