Prayer times by region in Costa Rica

Our pages in Costa Rica are organised in 7 regions. Open your region, then your city: every page has its own coordinates, so the times differ by a few minutes from one place to the next, from east to west and north to south.

How prayer times are calculated in Costa Rica

Times for Costa Rica use the Muslim World League method: Fajr when the sun is 18° below the horizon and Isha when the sun is 17° below the horizon. Times are shown in local time (UTC−6). In the capital San José, Fajr is about 3:59 AM and Maghrib 5:59 PM around 21 June, while around 21 December Fajr comes at 4:33 AM and Maghrib at 5:21 PM. Daylight there ranges from 11 h 33 min to 12 h 42 min.

Our cities in Costa Rica stretch from Nicoya in the west to Puerto Limón in the east, and from San José in the north to San Isidro de El General in the south. With such a distance, the sun reaches its zenith in Puerto Limón about 10 minutes before Nicoya, even though the clock is the same everywhere. Day length also differs between north and south, most of all in summer and winter, so the timetable of San José is no substitute for that of your own city.
