How prayer times are calculated in the DR Congo
Times for DR Congo use the Muslim World League method: Fajr when the sun is 18° below the horizon and Isha when the sun is 17° below the horizon. Times are shown in the local time of each city (UTC+2; UTC+1). In the capital Kinshasa, Fajr is about 4:30 AM and Maghrib 6:08 PM around 21 December, while around 21 June Fajr comes at 4:49 AM and Maghrib at 5:57 PM. Daylight there ranges from 11 h 52 min to 12 h 23 min.
Our cities in the DR Congo stretch from Moanda in the west to Aru in the east, and from Zongo in the north to Mokambo in the south. Because of this spread, the sun reaches its zenith in Aru about 74 minutes before Moanda, which is one reason the country uses several time zones. Day length also varies between north and south, especially in summer and winter, so the timetable of Kinshasa is no substitute for that of your own city.
