How prayer times are calculated in Honduras

Times for Honduras use the Muslim World League method: Fajr when the sun is 18° below the horizon and Isha when the sun is 17° below the horizon. Times are shown in local time (UTC−6). In the capital Tegucigalpa, Fajr is about 4:02 AM and Maghrib 6:19 PM around 21 June, while around 21 December Fajr comes at 4:52 AM and Maghrib at 5:26 PM. Daylight there ranges from 11 h 18 min to 12 h 58 min.

Our cities in Honduras stretch from Nueva Ocotepeque in the west to Puerto Lempira in the east, and from Coxen Hole in the north to Marcovia in the south. With such a distance, the sun reaches its zenith in Puerto Lempira about 22 minutes before Nueva Ocotepeque, even though the clock is the same everywhere. Day length also varies between north and south, most of all in summer and winter, so the timetable of Tegucigalpa cannot replace that of your own city.
