How prayer times are calculated in Hungary
Times for Hungary use the Muslim World League method: Fajr when the sun is 18° below the horizon and Isha when the sun is 17° below the horizon. Times are shown in local time (UTC+1, UTC+2 in summer). In the capital Budapest, Fajr is around 2:22 AM and Maghrib 8:45 PM around 21 June, while around 21 December Fajr comes at 5:36 AM and Maghrib at 3:55 PM. Daylight there ranges from 8 h 27 min to 15 h 58 min.
Our cities in Hungary stretch from Sopron in the west to Mátészalka in the east, and from Sátoraljaújhely in the north to Mohács in the south. With such a distance, the sun reaches its zenith in Mátészalka about 23 minutes before Sopron, even though the clock is the same everywhere. Day length also varies between north and south, most of all in summer and winter, so the timetable of Budapest cannot replace that of your own city.
