How prayer times are calculated in Jordan

Pages for Jordan use the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf method: Fajr when the sun is 18° below the horizon and Isha when the sun is 18° below the horizon. Times are shown in local time (UTC+3). In the capital Amman, Fajr is around 3:50 AM and Maghrib 7:50 PM around 21 June, while around 21 December Fajr comes at 6:05 AM and Maghrib at 5:41 PM. Daylight there ranges from 10 h 04 min to 14 h 15 min.

Our cities in Jordan stretch from Aqaba in the west to Rukban in the east, and from Rukban in the north to Aqaba in the south. With such a distance, the sun reaches its zenith in Rukban about 15 minutes before Aqaba, even though the clock is the same everywhere. Day length also varies between north and south, most of all in summer and winter, so the timetable of Amman is no substitute for that of your own city.
