How prayer times are calculated in Singapore
Pages for Singapore use the Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura method: Fajr when the sun is 20° below the horizon and Isha when the sun is 18° below the horizon. Times are shown in local time (UTC+8). In the capital Singapore, Fajr is around 5:36 AM and Maghrib 7:12 PM around 21 June, whereas around 21 December Fajr comes at 5:37 AM and Maghrib at 7:04 PM. Daylight there ranges from 12 h 03 min to 12 h 12 min.
Our cities in Singapore stretch from Boon Lay in the west to Bedok New Town in the east, and from Sembawang Estate in the north to Singapore in the south. With such a distance, the sun reaches its zenith in Bedok New Town about 1 minute before Boon Lay, even though the clock is the same everywhere. Day length also varies between north and south, most of all in summer and winter, so the timetable of Singapore cannot replace that of your own city.
