How prayer times are calculated in South Korea
Pages for South Korea use the Muslim World League method: Fajr when the sun is 18° below the horizon and Isha when the sun is 17° below the horizon. Times are shown in local time (UTC+9). In the capital Seoul, Fajr is around 3:16 AM and Maghrib 7:57 PM around 21 June, while around 21 December Fajr comes at 6:09 AM and Maghrib at 5:17 PM. Daylight there ranges from 9 h 34 min to 14 h 46 min.
Our cities in South Korea stretch from Sinan in the west to Pohang in the east, and from Kosong in the north to Seogwipo in the south. Because of this spread, the sun reaches its zenith in Pohang about 13 minutes before Sinan, even though the clock is the same everywhere. Day length also differs between north and south, most of all in summer and winter, so the timetable of Seoul is no substitute for that of your own city.
